Keep Those Calories Off While On A Holiday
Weight Loss
After slogging out day and night in the office, you have been able to save up enough for a nice short vacation. After returning from well-deserved, hard-earned holidays, the last thing you want to do is to hit the gym, because you have put on weight.
Now, you don’t want to label that lovely vacation as a big let down. One might argue that a vacation is for relaxation and fun, not some time to go ballistic over exercises and diet control. The bad news is that weight gain is a part of this merrymaking, a harsh reality that we fear to face. The good news, however, is that it is possible to keep those extra pounds at bay by following a few simple techniques.
Choose your holidays wisely
Physical fitness should not seem like going an extra mile while on a trekking or hiking programme during your holiday. Other pleasurable sports like winter skiing and scuba diving are a fantastic way to not only lose weight, but have loads of fun too.
During your vacation, hire a bicycle and tour the premises, or if the hotel has a pool, swim a few laps rather than perching on the swim-bar stool.
Do not binge
Weight watchers do not have to starve during this leisure time. When dining out, it is advisable to eat in smaller portions. Eat slowly, taking time to chew your food. Also, exercising some amount of self-control over fried and creamy foods like au gratins, cheese and fries is very essential.
Go easy on desserts too. Besides, nothing would be more romantic than sharing the yummy vanilla ice cream and hot chocolate with your sweetheart. A romantic way to halve your calorie intake!
If you indulge in extensive dinner table conversations, then soon after you finish eating your meal have your table cleared of the food plates. This way, you will save yourself from overeating unwittingly.
Drink moderately
Do not go over the edge downing tequilas, or pina coladas, because you will only be inviting that extra fat on your belly. Drinking in moderation helps you not only stay in control of yourself, but also watch those calories. Be generous on water than aerated and sugared drinks.
Cook for yourself
Try to find hotels with kitchenettes. This way, you can cook your meal and thus, have more control over what you eat. Also, ensure that food is not the main attraction of your holiday.
Healthy options
Always be prepared for unexpected hunger pangs you are bound to witness. Carry some healthy snacks like nuts, protein bars or fibre cookies during any outing. This will not only give you energy but will come in handy while deciding against stopping by a fast food joint.
Vacation is a vacation when you do nothing but eat, sleep and enjoy. But that does not have to mean weight gain. By incorporating a few healthy choices, you can have a blissful holiday and return to your routine looking healthier and happier, much to the envy of your colleagues.
